What this site covers

British Columbia is an unusual market. The province operates exactly one online casino through the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, and every other site a resident can open is licensed somewhere else entirely. That produces a genuine decision with a real trade in it, and most guides to the subject resolve the trade quietly by describing offshore operators as regulated and moving on to the welcome offer.

We take the opposite approach. Every assessment on this site starts from one question: when the money does not arrive, who do you complain to, and can they compel anyone to pay you. That question orders our scores, it decides which sites we refuse to list, and it is the reason our rankings do not match the bonus size rankings you will find elsewhere.

Editorial rules we hold to

• A licence is a number, not a badge. We check claimed licences against the issuing regulator's own public register. A footer graphic that links nowhere is treated as a claim that was never made.
• We separate legal from supervised. Playing at an offshore casino is legal for a British Columbian. Being protected by anyone in British Columbia is a different matter. We never merge the two.
• Bonuses are costed, not quoted. Every welcome offer is converted into an expected cost in Canadian dollars before it earns any credit.
• PlayNow gets both halves. It is genuinely accountable and genuinely limited. We say so, including where it beats every commercial site we could earn a commission from.
• We publish what would disqualify a site, so you can apply the same checks yourself without taking our word for anything.
• Figures are dated. Operator terms change without notice, so every page states when its figures were verified.

How we are funded

We earn commission when a reader opens an account through a link on this site. It does not affect rankings, scores or which operators we exclude, and we would rather disclose it in plain language than in a line of small print. Several operators offering better commercial terms than the sites we rank highest do not appear on this site at all, for the reasons set out on how we rate.

Who writes it

Our casino coverage is written by Sloane Ashcroft, a provincial licensing and game fairness analyst based in Vancouver. Every page carries a named author, a role, and the date its figures were last checked.

Corrections

If a figure on this site does not match an operator's own published terms, the operator is right and we are wrong, and we would like to fix it. The same goes for a licence claim we have accepted too readily. Corrections are made on the page rather than quietly, and the verification date is updated when they are.
