Hey there Musical Theatre fans!
The holidays, dare I say it, are upon us. And that means lots of seasonal musical-theatre entertainment!
Of course, there's a veritable pantload of pantos! Dracula, Cinderella and Robinson Crusoe (?) all get the traditionally wacky, "something for the kids, something for the adults" panto treatment.
But there's some other unique holiday musical offerings, too - like "BAH! HUMBUG", a staged reading of a musical version of the beloved Dickens tale. It features Downtown Eastside community actors, entertaining detours, and some "surprise special guests"! Plus, it's a benefit for Downtown Eastside community arts groups. Sounds like a can't miss proposition for your entertainment dollar.
BAH HUMBUG runs tomorrow and Saturday. See the calendar for details.
Then there's another local creation, "CHRISTMAS ON THE AIR" - where the audience gets to attend an old-time radio show being broadcast on Christmas Eve, 1949. Between the radio show and the songs, and the "backstage" soap opera, it should be fun and nostalgic times all around.
Christmas On The Air is on now! And goes through Jan. 1. See the calendar for all the info.
Of course, December is also when the fun-filled troupe I myself perform with, The Broadway Chorus, puts on their show as well. This time around it's "SUB PLOTS" - three underwater tales of love and adventure! - and it runs tonight through Saturday (though Saturday is already sold out!)
SUB PLOTS info is also on the calendar. Of course.
I've also added new shows coming up down the road:
Fiddler on the Roof
April 29-May 1, 2011 at The Centre for the Performing Arts
"The Lawyer Show": A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
This annual charity production puts actual lawyers on stage for your entertainment. A must see!
May 4-7, 2011
So that's it, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. May you all have a warm and wonderful holiday season and a fine 2011 - full of much singing and dancing!
