Hi all! I'm informed that this weekend, formerly reserved only for callbacks, is still a "come one come all" open audition, so if you're interested in a part in this G&S classic, by all means head on down to the Metro this Monday or Tuesday evening! Here's the details...
Audition Dates:
October 13th at 1pm and 14th at 7pm
AND October 21 and 22 at 7pm

Production Dates:
April 5 to May 3, 2014 with 2 Sunday matinees on April 13 and 27
Audition Preparation:
Each candidate should prepare 2 contrasting numbers, one from Gilbert and Sullivan (not The Mikado) light opera/classical, and one from classic Broadway (eg My Fair Lady/ Brigadoon).
Characters Required:
MEN
- THE MIKADO - Bass/ Baritone (A-a-E) – enjoys his position of total authority with bloodthirsty relish
- NANKI-POO - Tenor (D-d-A) – one of the biggest tenor roles in G and S. The Mikado’s son, disguised as a wandering minstrel, in love with Yum-Yum
- KO-KO - Light/comic baritone (C-c-E) - Big comic role, with patter song. Lord High Executioner of Titipu. Old, tired and burned out.
- POOH-BAH - bass/baritone (B-b-D) –Comic role with much time onstage. Loves money, power and prestige.
- PISH-TUSH - baritone (G-g-E)- smaller role with one important song and possibly a part in the madrigal. A Noble, calm and unruffled.
WOMEN
- YUM-YUM - SORANO (E-e-A) - Leading role with one solo and many ensembles. Ward of Ko-Ko. In love with Nanki-Poo. Sweet, soft and gentle
- PITTI-SING - Mezzo (C-c-E) - Yum-Yum’s older sister. Feisty-would do anything to defend her sister while at the same time being a little jealous of her upcoming wedding
- PEEP-BO - Soprano (D-d-E) - Yum-Yum’s younger sister. Quite shy but with a great sense of humour
- KATISHA - Big alto ( G-g-F) - Older lady of The Mikado’s court who claims Nanki-Poo in marriage. Aggressive and outspoken but, at the same time, rather pathetic and vulnerable
CHORUS
- Approximately 4 of each sopranos, altos, tenors and basses.
