After several weeks of work, I'm thrilled to officially announce the relaunch of VancouverMusicals.com, with a brand-new look and tons of great new features!
New features make things better than ever
The biggest improvement is that the site's now mobile-friendly. It's completely readable on smartphones with no pinching or zooming required.
You can now search the site to find shows (believe it or not, you couldn't previously do this). It's also possible to link to or share a listing since individual listings now have a unique address! (It's true, before this you couldn't actually bookmark specific listings.)
Design-wise, the first thing you'll notice is the dramatic new title - a stylized, painterly view of the city and its leading marquees, with the site's name itself animated like a Broadway sign.
Below that, a clean, spacious, minty-fresh layout shows off the listings to their best advantage - with more useful information like the show's start and end dates plus an interactive Google map of the venue! There's also a thumbnail image, to make things prettier.
Naturally you can now comment on individual listings, too. Share your thoughts!
Some nice little extras include clickable venue names that show you everything that's playing at that location. And, hover your mouse over a calendar day - you'll see the titles of all shows playing on that day. Sweet!
That calendar, by the way, is now larger and easier to click, and days with a show are orange.
Promote your show!
Finally, in a move that was long overdue, I'm transitioning to a paid model for banner advertising on the site. Now you can reach the highly-targeted audience of the VMTC and get your show noticed for a very reasonable price. Visit the ad info page for complete details, ad specs, and a gallery of custom ads I've created for past shows.
Well, that's about it - please let me know what you think. I welcome your feedback and of course let me know if you spot any glitches or have any suggestions.
Thanks for supporting musical theatre in Vancouver!
