Hi again folks! Adam here with another quick update on fresh shows coming soon to a stage near you - and listed now on the Vancouver Musical Theatre Calendar!
The Awesome 80's Prom
One weekend monthly, February-April
Like stepping into a John Hughes movie, it's an interactive evening with all the classic high-school characters. I didn't actually attend high school myself (a long story involving home schooling and "think different" parenting) - so attending this was a great way to catch up on exactly what I missed.
You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown
Feb. 3-27
Everybody's favourite round-headed kid and his friends return! Here's some neat trivia - did you know that Gary Burghoff, Radar O'Reilly from M*A*S*H, played the lead in the original 1967 production? He must have been spot-on for the part - wish there was something of it on YouTube but I couldn't find anything, alas. Curse you, YouTube!
[title of show]
Feb. 3-26
Nope, I haven't forgotten to type the title in - that is the title. This Tony-Award nominated musical sounds very meta (struggling writers create a show about the struggle to write) and also very entertaining. Hot off Broadway, this is its first Vancouver appearance.
Bird Brain
Feb. 11-27
A magical and charming fable, which is reaching the 'Couv for the first time after wowing the younger set (and, I'm sure, the big people too) in Toronto, Edmonton and Calgary.
February also brings us Avenue Q, Mame, and Falsettos!
Stay tuned to the VMTC at VancouverMusicals.com for the latest listings in Vancouver musical theatre. Until next time, thanks for supporting our vibrant musical theatre scene!
