Q - Actors Connecting
A unique series of filmed forums and readings by and for queer actors will be staged at the PAL Theatre on Saturday afternoons, July 27th, August 3rd, and August 10th. Three forums will each feature a critically recognized actor, who will share their experiences, insight, challenges, and triumphs, and a panel of agents, directors, and actors. Some attendees will then share the stage with the pros in a reading of a recent classic Canadian queer script.
Questions to be explored in the forums include:
• What is it like to be an actor? How does one prepare for a role? How does someone handle rejection? How do they find work?
• Does it matter if they are gay? Or lesbian? Or transgendered?
• In theatre it likely doesn't matter, but what about film and TV? Big name stars have come out but usually after they have "made it." Why is Jodie Foster so cagey about it?
• Do casting directors and agents limit audition opportunities if they know the sexual orientation of the actor?
Q - Actors Connecting is based on Inside the Actors Studio, the long-running, well-respected craft seminar on Bravo. The event offers a singular opportunity to seek advice and get inspired in an afternoon of dialogue and theatre. It brings together working professional artists, up-and-comers, and those fascinated by actors and acting.
Part One
Q & A discussion between the audience and panel of agents, directors, actors and the featured professional artist, moderated by the Bob Loblaw Queer Arts Society's Artistic Director, David C. Jones.
Part Two
A reading of a recent classic queer Canadian work by the up-and-comers alongside a professional artist.
The professional artists to be featured are:
• Saturday July 27th 1pm to 4pm
Morgan Brayton and Peggy Thompson's iconic film script Better Than Chocolate
• Saturday August 3rd NOTE TIME: 11am to 2pm

These events are presented by the Bob Loblaw Queer Arts Society as part of the Queer Arts Festival. All three will be filmed as part of the documentary TV special for OUTtv, Acting in the Closet.
