A rock musical based on the 1891 German play by Frank Wedekind, and set in late-19th-century Germany, Spring Awakening tells the story of teenagers discovering the inner and outer tumult of teenage sexuality. Phantom Moon Collective is a theatrical equity co-op featuring two alternate sets of leads: William Tippery (Beauty and the Beast) and Daren Dyhengco (West Side Story) in the role of Melchior and Jenna Testani (Cabaret) and Jess Amy Shead (Any Night) in the role of Wendla. The role of Moritz will be played by Oliver Castillo (Hair). The role of Ilse will be shared by Martha Ansfield-Scrase (Bad Girls) and Amanda Sum (Dogfight). Rounding out the rest of the ensemble are Janelle Ried (Hair), Adam Olgui (Threepenny Opera), Jarryd Baine, James Wilson and Sharon Crandall (Fame).
Each night the cast will alternate leads and ensemble parts making for two interpretations.
The production is produced and directed by Chris Lam, Musical Direction by Peter Abando, associate choreography by Eleanor Felton, set design by Heipo Leung (Holy Mo, Christmas Show), lighting by Jonathan Kim, and stage management by Jasmin Sandhu.
