In the land of Kingdom Town, fairy tale characters go about their lives, but with a modern twist. Our story begins with the blooming romance between Wolf and adult Red Riding Hood, who encounter several roadblocks on their journey to being together – animal-people are mistrusted and racism abounds. With Red’s co-dependent and wily Granny teaming up with her Red’s overbearing ex-boyfriend Hunter, Red and Wolf’s relationship will face many hurdles before they actually make it to the ball at the royal palace.
Meanwhile, Rose Red is trying to help her catatonic sister Snow, Boots the Cat is attempting to organize an animal-person revolution, the Princes Chuck and Cinder are planning the last-minute royal ball, Alice and Hatter are having a love-hate relationship of their own, and B is trying to offer her friends the best advice possible.
Spun in a new direction, “A Modern Fairy Tale” takes timeless characters and puts them in a new light that is inclusive of LGBTQ concerns and gender neutral terms. With highlights that include ballroom-meets-hiphop dance routines, cross-playing, and contemporary Internet-meme humour, this pop-rock musical parody is bound to draw you in and make you reconsider everything you thought you knew about Fairy Tales!
